It’s safe to say that the seventh installment of Star Wars is highly anticipated. The trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was watched 128 million times in the 24 hours after it debuted, shattering the record of first-day views for a movie trailer and creating the biggest-ever day for advance ticket sales in several countries, according to StarWars.com.
However, the team over at Screen Junkies wants everyone to remember that we’ve been burned by the beloved sci-fi franchise in the past. The honest trailer for The Force Awakens takes a trip down memory lane to the disappointing prequels of the series: “There were stories about what happened. It’s true. All of it. The midi-chlorians…Jar Jar…the special editions. They’re real.”
But the clip also points out that it doesn’t matter what anyone says, because everyone is going to see the film anyway.
“We could show you two hours of a monkey washing a cat, and you’d still go see this movie. Twice.”
