JESSE OWENS (1913-1980)
In the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Jesse Owens not only won four gold medals, he did it before a dubious spectator, Adolf Hitler. Owens was not part of the supposed master race, but he mastered the 100- and 200-meter dashes, the long jump and the 4x100 relay nonetheless. Hence, a myth was laid to rest.
