A BEAUTIFUL MIND

Russell Crowe, Hollywood's new Tom Hanks, shucked the gladiator outfit and did the "Insider" thing for "A Beautiful Mind," wrapping himself in physical tics — and a lifetime's worth of paste-on wrinkles — in his self-transforming portrayal of John Nash, a brilliant Princeton mathematician who struggles with a psychological disorder. The movie's considered a shoo-in for Best Picture, but bet on the Academy turning to Denzel or Will Smith for alpha male this year.
