Director Robert Altman hasn't tickled Hollywood like this since "The Player," picking up a Best Director nod (and six others including Best Picture) for the British-class-distinctions whodunit "Gosford Park." But while Altman is getting the auteur props, the nominations will be the extent of his reward. The statues, if any, will go to his flawless pack of supporting actors.
