THE LORD OF THE RINGS

Director Peter Jackson could theoretically walk away with Best Location Scout for the enchanted Middle-world (a.k.a. New Zealand) that dresses "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" in David Lean clothing. Given that the film's 13 nominations are mostly technical, this could be the Academy's way of nodding to "Ring"'s mammoth box-office take. But then the world would be ruled by ultimate evil.
