Professor of Law University of Colorado Paul Campos is a professor of law at the University of Colorado and an opinion columnist for the Rocky Mountain News and the Scripps Howard News Agency. His articles have appeared in many national publications, including the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, USA Today and the New Republic. His cover story in the New Republic on obesity research and the weight loss industry produced one of the largest responses elicited by the magazine in recent years. Professor Campos' book, The Obesity Myth: Why America's Obsession With Weight is Hazardous to Your Health was published by Penguin USA's Gotham Books imprint on May 3, 2004. It has been the subject of feature news stories in the New York Times and USA Today and a 5000-word edited excerpt was the cover story in the April 23 edition of the Guardian's weekend magazine. A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, where he was editor of the Law Review Professor Campos joined the University of Colorado faculty in 1990. His academic articles and essays have appeared in the nation's top legal journals, including the Columbia Law Review, the Michigan Law Review, and the California Law Review. In 1995 he was named the first director of the Byron R. White Center for American Constitutional Study. Among other awards and honors, Professor Campos was recently named "Best University of Colorado Professor" by the Colorado Daily.
