Senior Writer TIME Magazine Daniel Kadlec joined TIME as a Senior Writer and columnist in October 1996. His focus is on the stock market, the economy and investing. He covers many other aspects of business as well. He won a New York Press Club award in 2002 and a National Headliner Award in 1998 for his columns on investing. Mr. Kadlec's first book, Masters of the Universe, was published by Harper Collins in May 1999. The book is based on interviews with dealmakers including Sanford Weill, Sumner Redstone, Carl Icahn, Hugh McColl, Ted Forstmann, Henry Silverman, Stephen Bollenbach, Gary Wilson and Joe Rice. His second book along with collaborator Ken Dychtwald, to be published by Wiley next year, will offer a revolutionary view of Baby Boomers' retirement years. He was previously with USA Today where he was the creator and author of the popular daily column, "Street Talk," which anchored the newspaper's business coverage. He first joined USA Today in 1986 as a business writer. Mr. Kadlec holds a B.A. in Communications from Marquette University.
