David L. Katz MD, is associate clinical professor of public health and medicine, and director of medical studies in public health, at the Yale University School of Medicine. He co-founded and directs Yale's Prevention Research Center, a CDC-funded clinical research facility devoted to chronic disease prevention.

Dr. Katz has extensive experience in the delivery of dietary and weight control counseling to patients. He founded, and now directs, the Integrative Medicine Center in Derby, CT, a facility in which conventionally trained and naturopathic physicians work collaboratively to provide patients with evidence-based, holistic care.

Elected to the governing boards of both the American College of Preventive Medicine, and the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine, Katz was recognized in 2003 as one of America's top physicians in preventive medicine by the Consumer Research Council of America. He has also been honored with a fellowship by the American College of Preventive Medicine (FACPM), and the American College of Physicians (FACP).

During 2003, Katz was consulted on obesity control strategies by Secretary of Health Tommy Thompson, FDA Commissioner Mark McClellan, The Canadian Ministry of Health, and Governor Jeb Bush's Obesity Control Task Force in Florida. He has published numerous scientific articles and seven books including "Nutrition in Clinical Practice," "The Way to Eat" and "Cut Your Cholesterol." He writes the nutrition column, "The Way to Eat," for O, the Oprah magazine.

Dr. Katz is board-certified in internal medicine, and preventive medicine/public health. He earned his BA from Dartmouth College, his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and his MPH from the Yale School of Medicine.
