Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy Tufts University View Dr. Lichtenstein's presentation from the Summit. Dr. Alice Lichtenstein is the Stanley N. Gershoff professor of nutrition science and policy in the Gerald J. & Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy at Tufts University. She is also senior scientist and director of the cardiovascular nutrition laboratory at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging. At the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, Dr. Lichtenstein's laboratory group examines the effect of dietary components on plasma lipids and other heart disease risk factors. Selected issues are also investigated with the aim of determining the mechanisms by which dietary factors alter cardiovascular disease risk. Dr. Lichtenstein is a member of, among others, the American Society of Nutritional Sciences and the American Society of Clinical Nutrition. She serves as vice-chair of the American Heart Association Nutrition Committee. She is on the editorial board of Atherosclerosis as an associate editor of the Journal of Lipid Research, and the editorial advisory boards of the Journal of Nutrition in Clinical Care and the Tufts Health and Nutrition Letter. Dr. Lichtenstein completed her undergraduate work in nutrition at Cornell University. She earned a masters and doctoral degree in Nutrition from Harvard School of Public Health. She received her post-doctoral training in the field of lipid metabolism at the Cardiovascular Institute at Boston University School of Medicine.
