Scale AI builds datasets to make information useful to machine-learning systems, says CEO Alexandr Wang, who dropped out of MIT to start the company in 2016. His company’s nuanced geodata helps guide driverless vans delivering Domino’s pizzas around Houston, but it also has supported relief operations in Ukraine during Russia’s assault. Drawing on streams of commercial satellite imagery, Scale AI created a new machine-learning tool that can automatically detect new damage to individual buildings.
