In synch with the West Coast's laid-back lifestyle, Paul Smith's English-dandy look, including his pastel-striped shirts, has become the latest status symbol at Neiman Marcus, where the shirts sell for $250 and up

VANCOUVER
Retro looks and casual clothes--especially jeans by Paper Denim and Cloth ($160-$180)--are selling well at Hill's of Kerrisdale, a trendy shop in one of the more upscale neighborhoods

CHICAGO
Hugh Grant loves Polo's Blue Label custom-fit shirts ($62.50), available in 50 colors, including Lime Drop and Poseidon Purple. The shirts can be custom-ordered with a polo player in your choice of color

PARIS
Parisians are very loyal to French labels, and this season it's Hermes' patchwork shirt in shades of gray and fuchsia--inspired by 1960s graphics--that is selling out at the flagship store

MADRID
Spaniards favor a more relaxed look. Men spend about 70% of their clothing budget on leisure wear. This year leather jackets are more popular than ever, according to Sonia Perezminguez at Loewe

SAO PAULO
As always, the Latin-playboy look is popular among Sao Paulo's shoppers. Gucci's sunglasses featuring a studded brow bar, below, retail for $250 at Daslu, the city's most popular fashion emporium

NEW YORK
At $9,350, Patek Philippe's classic Calatrava watch is not really a steal, but it's the company's best seller. Formal details like the white dial make it more suited to lunch at Patroon than a stroll on the East Hampton beach

DALLAS
According to Keith Carlisle, men's department manager at Stanley Korshak, Vilebrequin's matching father/son swim trunks in florals ($135 for men, $80 for boys) are almost always sold in pairs

HONOLULU
When the temperature dips below 70F, Hawaiians head for Emporio Armani to snatch up the trendy skullcaps--or beanies--with even trendier logos ($48)

LONDON
English lads are lining up for Dunhill's new d-eight across-the-chest messenger bag in coated canvas ($445), below. It's a casual alternative to the traditional briefcase

STOCKHOLM
According to Kent Hansen at the NK Herrkonfektion, Burberry's narrow ties and cotton suits are hot sellers, especially the two-button jacket ($865) and slim-leg trousers ($540)

TOKYO
When it comes to basic business attire, men who shop Aoyama's Kotto-dori or Roppongi's Keyakizaka Street go straight for the classics, especially the three-button Hugo Boss suit ($1,100), right

MOSCOW
Hedi Slimane's destroyed-denim jeans for Dior Homme ($750), is selling out at the Dior store. A representative says this edgy look, new to Moscow, is popular with the fashion-forward crowd

PRAGUE
The favorite among the Czech capital's boardroom set is Louis Vuitton's classic Tobol briefcase ($1,630), left, with a trio of large individual compartments inside and an open pocket outside for travel documents

HONG KONG
There's only one watch brand that men here buy. "It's always Rolex," says salesman Stanley Chan, at the Precision Watch Co. The most popular model is the black-face Oyster Perpetual ($3,950)

SYDNEY
For shoppers here, comfort carries more weight than cutting-edge fashion, which is why Prada's new suede-and-nylon-mesh car shoe, below, is leaving skid marks in the flagship store on Martin Place

SINGAPORE
Style-conscious gents are descending on the Ermenegildo Zegna Sport outlet in the heart of shopping haven Orchard Road for the Italian label's popular Portofino sailing shoes ($317), above

MILAN
Ever since Tod's owner, Diego Della Valle, opened a store featuring his menswear label Fay, it has been a top seller. The Superlight jacket, left, comes in high-performing fabrics with indetectable compact padding ($500)
