Hermès looked to Spanish craftsmanship for inspiration in creating its
new line of porcelain dinnerware, Balcon du Guadalquivir, which recalls
the wrought-iron balconies of Andalusia in southern Spain. The
Guadalquivir River flows through this once-Moorish region before
emptying into the Atlantic. The collection will be available in Hermès
stores this fall, with prices ranging from about $65 for a plate to $250
for a platter.
LOUIS VUITTON'S new collection of timepieces, Speedy, features textured
faces that replicate the surface of Vuitton's famous checked canvas. The
DuoJet, right, has dials that keep track of time zones as close as 15
min. apart. The collection, which starts at $3,200, arrives in stores
this month.
THANKS TO its forward-thinking designer Hedi Slimane, Dior Homme was
among the first luxury-fashion brands to offer a sleek iPod case, in
2002. This summer the company presents a more complete suite of techie
accessories, dubbed Dior Digitalincluding cases for a Treo, an iPod
Mini, a digital camera, car CDs, even a memory card. The collection, in
black calfskin or the label's signature-logo canvas, hits Dior Homme
boutiques in June.
THIS SPRING Waterworks introduces its new .25 collection, named after
the angle of the lever-handle faucet. The line includes fixtures, a new
surface material made of marble, quartz, granite and glass, and a
bathtub inspired by an embryo.
