Hard Wear
Forget about flounces and flowers for now; it's all about tough chic--as in skull rings, studs and a lot of leather

Fall 2005 Style & Design
Fashion designers who have had it with peasant skirts and peekaboo pumps are turning to an edgier look for fall. Details like chains, grommets and diamond studs have been showing up on everything from ready-to-wear to fine jewelry. In Los Angeles stylists are snapping up Loree Rodkin's punky jewelry. The bolder style "looks fresh," says Cole Haan creative director Gordon Thompson. David Yurman, whose chunky necklaces have a tough flair, says the look "exudes confidence." Other accessories that are set to hit the road: Tod's ankle boots and Gucci driving gloves. Even Hermès is blinging up the bad-girl look with a dash of diamonds on its croc bracelet.
