And unlike even some of the stronger performers like Melinda, she sings like there's actual lived experience behind her vocal. In his pretaped mentoring, Bennett advises her to leave off a tag she added at the end ("Ain't no sunshine when he's gone!"). LaKisha disregards him, because LaKisha knows how to sing like LaKisha and does not give a crap what anyone else thinks. And for this, I love her.
