James Blunt
Beautiful
Grade: C+

The Grammys honor songs released between September and September, but the ceremony is held in February. In other words, some of the nominated material is older than Tony Bennett. That's why we get James Blunt doing Beautiful, a song that last appeared on a middle school mix tape 8 months ago. Blunt made a go of it on his acoustic guitar with a piano backing, but unless he hauled out a new melody and new lyrics, there was just no way this was going to work.
