New Wonders
THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

The Great Pyramids of Egypt are finally getting some company. For 500 years they have stood as the sole remaining wonder of the world, but in July, seven new man-made masterpieces will join their ranks—or replace them. The New7Wonders Foundation, created in 2001 by Swiss adventurer Bernard Weber, gives people worldwide the chance to vote for seven new wonders of the world. An expected 100 million will vote online or by phone for 21 proposed marvels, including shoo-ins—like the Acropolis, the Great Wall of China, Stonehenge and the Colosseum—and latter-day long shots like the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower.
