More Questions for David Ortiz
TIME's interview with the Red Sox slugger continues on Time.com. Read these extra questions with David Ortiz.
What was your favorite baseball team growing up? Bruce McCoy, Franklin Hills, Calif.
I don't really have a favorite team. I was watching baseball when I was like 12 or 13, and I was watching the World Series. My father made me watch because I didn't have an inclination to watch TV. That day, I saw the Twins playing, they won the World Series. Kirby Puckett made that catch, and since then, he was my favorite baseball player.
Which current Yankee do you fear the most, A Rod or Jeter? Jason P. Sharpe, Florence, Ore.
They're both good hitters. I wouldn't want to face either.
Why did you choose now to write your book now and not after you have retired? Mary Stephens, St. Charles, Mo.
Somebody came to me with the idea. I wasn't expecting the idea. A lot of people write books not at the end of their career. Why you gotta wait until then? When you're momentum's going, that's when people really want to get to know about you.
Do you love it when they call you Big Papi? Brad Sherman, New York City
Yeah I do. I don't know. It's just been like that for years. I don't mind.
How important do you think it is for immigrants to assimilate into traditional American culture, more specifically the ability to communicate in English? Sean Addison, Troy, N.Y.
Whatever country you go to, you need to definitely follow the rules. So I believe it's very important for people, wherever they go, any immigrant should know or should try to learn something about the culture.
