RAIL FINE: The Great South Pacific Express, a deluxe train introduced by Orient-Express in December, is offering deals on "preview" trips before the April launch of its regular service. Save up to $460 on the Sydney-Brisbane-Cairns route for trips before April 23, reducing the cost of a double compartment in a Pullman car to $1,730 a person (or $3,250 each in a plush and roomy commissioner's car). The tours run from July until October, when hundreds of humpback whales stop off in the warm waters of Hervey Bay before heading south past Sydney.
