HIGH HOPES: How do you top finding Mallory? Eric Simonson, the American leader of the Mallory and Irvine Research Expedition, will continue leading tour groups with International Mountain Guides. Climbs planned for the remainder of 1999 include Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, the Cho Oyu peak in the Himalayas and Irian Jaya's Carstensz Pyramid, recently reopened to climbers by the Indonesian government.
