A HILTON BY ANY OTHER NAME ...? As of last month, Hilton International has withdrawn its management and endorsement of its namesake properties in Indonesia. Although the Jakarta Hilton International, the Lagoon Tower Jakarta Hilton International, the Hilton Residence, the Patra Surabaya Hilton International and the Bali Hilton International will retain the H-word, the luxury properties were stripped of all Hilton management support, including sales, marketing and the HHonors frequent stay program. The July 21 announcement from the hotel chain's international arm cited a financial dispute with its Indonesian joint venture partner, the owner of the five hotels, adding that once Hilton withdrew its management services, it would not "be responsible for the level of service guests will receive in these properties." While the five hotels are permitted to continue carrying the famous brand's name, they have been removed from the group's website (www.hilton.com), and customers wishing to make reservations must contact the hotels directly.
