Getting Around
A bus goes from the airport around Taipa's hotels before heading north to the hotels of Macau proper. Taxi drivers will use the meter and you should expect to pay a bit less than $1 to get from the airport to the city. Not many drivers speak English, so you might need to have your destination written down in Chinese script.
Macau has both minibuses and large buses, and both are airconditioned and run frequently between 7 am and midnight. The Macau Tourist Map shows all the bus routes. Most trips will cost you around $0.50, and you'll need exact change. Macau's streets are a teeming mass of cars and previous rally-driving experience will stand you in good stead. While driving on the peninsula is hair-raising, it can be fun to hire a Moke to get around the islands. Bikes can also be hired on Taipa.
Macau's pedicabs, or three-wheeled bicycles, are a tourist trap. They look cheap, but they have no meters, and the price you agree on will probably wind up being more than that of a taxi. Your trip will also be considerably slower.
