MACAU TOURISM
(http://macau.tourism.gov.mo)
MACAU NOW: This isn't the flashiest of sites, but it's compact and easy to navigate--like Macau itself. You'll find the basics on what to do and where to stay, including an entertainment section that lists options for taking a flutter on the ponies, dogs and casinos, as well as an intro to what the site calls Macau's "soft lights, sweet music and charming hostesses." A special events listing features last year's details on annual draws like the Grand Prix and the Macau Open golf tournament. More useful is the "getting to Macau" feature that includes details like tips on using the colony's international airport as a gateway to Hong Kong.

GOVERNMENT OF MACAU
(www.macau.gov.mo)
OFFICIAL EASE: The homepage of Macau's soon-to-be-replaced Portuguese administration gives a thumbnail look at life before the handover. Peruse back issues of the Macau Review or scan its features on cultural tolerance, the transition, the judiciary and local politics. You can give its (blank) events section a miss.
