TRAVEL WATCH: JANUARY 17, 2000 VOL. 155 NO. 2
Hong Kong's arts scene is rarely accused of being a feast for the senses, but the Star Alliance City Festival is now putting on a terrific array of events. Music, theater, dance and multimedia performances will fill venues all over the city until Jan. 31. If innovative theater is your thing, be sure to catch Once Upon a Time in Wong Uk in the New Territories town of Shatin. Staged in the remains of one of Hong Kong's oldest Chinese homes, the play explores the history of the family that once lived there. The festival also spotlights local and international musicians and artists in joint performances. Check out its website for a schedule, or call (852) 2521-7251.
