The Little Things Count For a Lot in This Big City
Kuala Lumpur is famous for one, well, two big things—the Petronas Twin Towers, the world's tallest buildings.

Detour
The Selangor River still offers decent whitewater rafting just an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur.

Web Crawling
An online 'zine without an in-your-face marketing angle, this is a cultural site worth visiting.

Short Cuts
Getting around Kuala Lumpur has launched a bus service to shuttle visitors around the city's major landmarks.

Hot Spot
Visitors to Kuala Lumpur should be sure to check out Masjid India, the shopping square where many Malay and Indian residents head for traditional clothing, herbal cures and street food.

GETTING AROUND
Kuala Lumpur has launched a bus service to shuttle visitors around the city's major landmarks. The six City Explorer buses run three separate routes with a 30-minute frequency. The first covers the Central Market and Merdeka Square area, the second makes stops around Masjid Negara, Bukit Bintang and Menara Kuala Lumpur, and the third takes visitors to the National Museum and the planetarium. Not a bad deal for the equivalent of just 25 cents. A 10-cent fare hike is being discussed to allow the bus company to hire guides. The service operates from 7 a.m. until midnight.

LOUNGE LIZARDS
Killing time at Kuala Lumpur International Airport is easy on the bottom line. For $18 couch potatoes in transit can hang around the Plaza Premium Lounge for five hours bingeing on soup, sandwiches, beer and movies. More productive travelers can plug their laptops into a broadband connection via their ethernet card. Factor in the showers and golf putting green and it's a small wonder that they manage to get rid of their guests. Tel: (603) 8787-2323.
