Veteran Wall Street reporter Daniel Kadlec joined TIME Magazine as a Senior Writer and in October 1996. His focus is on the stock market, the economy, investing and personal finance, though he covers many aspects of business. Kadlec regularly appears on CNN and CNNfn and has been a guest CNBC, Good Morning America and numerous radio programs across the country.

In 2002, he won a New York Press Club award in the business column category for his column in early 2001 detailing the hazards of owning too much employer stock in a 401(k) plan. In 1999, he won a National Headliner Award for a collection of his 1998 personal finance columns.

Kadlec's first book, Masters of the Universe, was published by HarperCollins in May 1999. The book is based on interviews with nine dealmakers including Sanford Weill, Sumner Redstone, Carl Icahn, Hugh McColl, Ted Forstmann, Henry Silverman, Stephen Bollenbach, Gary Wilson, and Joe Rice.

Kadlec joined TIME from USA Today where he was the creator and author of the popular daily column, "Street Talk," which anchored the newspaper's business coverage. Kadlec first joined USA Today in 1986 as a business writer. He left briefly in 1989 to become Business Editor and help launch the now-defunct St. Louis Sun. He rejoined USA Today in 1990 as an editor, and began the "Street Talk" column in 1992.

Kadlec holds a B.A. in Communications from Marquette University. He and his wife have three children and reside in Westchester County.
