As the enemy fighting force appears larger than expected, 300 additional

Allied soldiers are converging on the mountain range, and may have killed
as many as 800 al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters. The concentration of enemy
fighters leads to media speculation over whether Osama bin Laden may be
nearby, but U.S. officials play down such speculation.
