UNCONVENTIONAL WEAPONS:
DIRTY BOMB ATTACK

What It Is
A crude method—using conventional explosives like dynamite—of scattering low-level radioactive materials, such as those found in X-ray machines or food irradiation plants

What Could Happen
Depending on the size of the bomb, the explosion could level a small building and subject hundreds of people to high levels of radiation. The target area would suffer long-term contamination

Protecting Yourself
Have enough food and water to stay inside for a few days. Avoid the blast area and stay upwind. If exposed, dispose of your clothes, wash thoroughly and seek medical care
