The Day the Sun Went Black

Preparing for the big day, members of the British Astronomers Association set up their telescopes near Truro in Cornwall, England, to capture the eclipse's debut over the south of England on Wednesday. Scientists hoped that the millennium's last total solar eclipse would allow them to learn more about the little known structure of the sun's corona, or outer atmosphere.
