The Dispossessed: Brazil, 1996; Peasant families celebrate government approval of their right to a piece of land on the Cuiaba plantation in Sergipe State. The squatter settlement contained 2,800 familes. Tens of thousands of Brazilian families live in improvised settlements in various parts of Brazil.
