The glorious messes that are Political campaigns provide plenty of
unforgettable images and stories. Some of the best are collected here in
photographs by TIME contract photographer Christopher Morris and TIME
reporters John Dickerson and Tamala Edwards.
On his first domestic assignment for TIME in almost 10 years, Morris decided
to try something old school. He put down his trusty 35mm cameras, and picked
up his 1957 Rolliflex. The twin lens square format camera changed the way
Morris looked at the candidates and the campaigns he was covering. Dickerson
and Edwards, two veterans of the '96 Clinton-Dole contest, follow with their
anecdotes of the revealing and the quirky from the Bush and Gore campaigns.
