DENNIS KUCINICH
Courts and Civil Liberties
Kucinich promises to repeal the Patriot Act, which he voted against. He opposes capital punishment, and would shift the emphasis of anti-drug efforts from punishment to treatment. On abortion, he shifted from a pro-life to a pro-choice position during his tenure in Congress, and now promises to nominate judges who will uphold Roe v. Wade. He supports affirmative action, recognition of civil unions for homosexuals and an end to the ban on openly gay people in the military.
