Reech is a derivatives specialist whose London company uses technology to offer risk-management services to the financial sector.
A former manager of the financial products division at Nikko Europe, he also worked in derivatives at Commerzbank and Banque Paribas before starting privately held Reech Capital.
The firm offers data-analysis and portfolio-valuation software to financial institutions, pension funds and hedge funds (clients include UBS Warburg, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers).
Its hit product, ADEP, prices exotic derivatives in financial markets, using English for product descriptions. The company does 30% of its business in the U.S. Profits jumped 800% this year, and Reech expects next years revenues to be around $32 million.
The Vision Thing: By 2002 we should have consolidated our leading position in Europe to the point that we will be unchallengeable. We have a head start in this industry and a good track record. So we should be able to challenge potential providers in other regions.
Forward Spin: Reech wants to expand further into the U.S. and then Asia. One obstacle: rival Cygnifi, a Web-based derivatives service company created by J.P. Morgan.
