Using your TV or PC as a hub may work fine at home, but what do you do when you are out and about? New services such as fusionOne will allow you to synchronize messages from all your devices and retrieve them from a central, easy-to-access website. This is the first step in a whole new way of using data, with the Internet itself becoming the basis for an operating system. That will eliminate problems created by conflicting formats, and let users store data safely on the Internet and access it from any personal computer, cell phone or other Web appliance. Microsoft — through its .Net initiative — is expected to aid the creation of such online applications.   next
