Going Digital : Everybody Wins
With the advent of Computer-to-Plate technology, digital files expose printing plates directly. There are no intermediate steps to degrade the reproduction quality of your ad. Film duplication and scanning drives up costs and takes you farther and farther away from your original. Also, once film handling is gone, dirt and dust are eliminated from the plate-making process. Improved registration is another quality plus. No more manual stripping. Plates are registered electronically, virtually eliminating film registration problems.

When the final ad is approved, the time and labour intensive process of making film for shipment begins. Getting Started
We understand how hard it can be to jump in to something new. WeÌd like to help you get started. WeÌre happy to answer any concerns or queries you may have, and we will partner you through a trial period if necessary before going "live" with this process.

All of our international ad production teams have gone through training programs to successfully process digital advertising. This means you will deal with the same people that youÌve always worked with. No special phone calls required.


Environmentally Friendly - One More Benefit
Going digital is environmentally friendly as well. In an all-electronic workflow, there are no chemicals for processing film, and no conventional shipping materials.

File Format Specifications
No matter what your current process, you can send us your digital files.

If your final ads are created on desktop (in QuarkXpress for example), please be sure to follow the step-by-step guide on saving to Postscript. (For detailed specifications see the Postscript Specifications sheet.) Following these guides will reduce the risks commonly associated with this file format.

In either case, send us your file on a Zip, Jaz or CD-ROM or via ISDN. Please include the required Checklist and the required number of digital proofs made from the digital file.

WeÌll check your files (as carefully as we inspect your film) and reproduce your ads to meet Time IncÌs high standards of print reproduction quality.
