A Journey Through Angola
A series of pictures reveal the damage done by decades of civil war
Playtime, Kuito: Mines mutilate more than 70,000 people every year in Angola: no other place in the world suffers higher casualties. Many of the injured and maimed are children. Before the ceasefire as few as one in 10 of them received assistance with false limbs and other prostheses. Now the Red Cross is helping more victims young and old as the country's roads open up and the no-go zones diminish.
