Lost Fortuyn
A nation known for its tolerance mourns for a leader with extreme views

Friday, May 10, 2002: A woman throws flowers on the white hearse carrying the body of assassinated Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn. Thousands of mourners lined the streets of Fortuyn's home town Rotterdam to watch the the extreme-right political leader's coffin progress to a religious service in the city's Roman Catholic cathedral.
