FAREWELL: German troops wave goodbye from the decks of the Frigate Karlsruhe. Eight German vessels and three Danish ships departed from the north German port carrying approximately 1,000 service personnel as part of a U.N. peacekeeping mission. The naval detachment is headed for the eastern Mediterranean off Lebanon, to patrol the coast and to prevent the smuggling of weapons into Lebanon.
