Genesis 22:10
The Sacrifice of Isaac

and took the knife to slay his son.

Artwork by Marc Chagall:
Abraham and Isaac on the way to the place of sacrifice, 1931

The Context:
God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. As Abraham prepared to carry out God's order, he was stopped by an angel.
The Problem:
Abraham was prepared to kill his own son.

"God in essence was calling upon the patriarch Abraham to express whether he loved the gift that is Isaac or if he loved the giver that is God the more."
