God creates man, Adam, in his own image and gives man dominion over all of earth and every living creature on it. God creates woman, Eve, as a companion for man out of Adam's rib. The serpent tempts Eve into eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge. God punishes Adam and Eve and banishes them east from the Garden of Eden.
