In God's sight, man becomes evil and violent and God regrets his creation. He finds a righteous man, Noah, and orders him to build an ark. God tells Noah to take his family and two of each kind of animal, one male, one female, onto the ark and He floods the earth and destroys it. The waters recede and God blesses Noah and his sons and tells them to "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth."
