Usenet group: alt.fan.jesus-christ From a thread titled "You people are wasting your time with Christianity": Speaker 1: "The Bible does not validate God. God validates, or does not validate, the Bible. The Bible is not Truth. Jesus Christ is Truth. You will never be reconciled to God by the Bible. If you are willing to give up your goals, your purposes, your preconceptions, your self-image, in short, your life, you will be reconciled to God by Jesus Christ." Speaker 2: "BRAVO!" Speaker 3: "The Bible is a book, written by men of faith. It is a resource of faith, a reference. Your faith in your beliefs must come from within YOURSELF, not any words that may have been misinterpreted or rewritten." Speaker 4: "Exactly. The Bible shouldn't be what produces our faith, since it is of course the product of faith. So, the Bible is the expression of people's faith, and of course we must realize that that expression is not necessarily perfect. Nor is the faith necessarily perfect." Speaker 5: "I can see the point you are trying to make here and I am not trying to pick an argument BUT if we do not base our faith in the Jesus we read about in the bible then we are just basing it on our own preconceived ideas. And then all we have is a figure we have created on our own. The Bible is the infallible word of God, written by God through men. It isn't just a book of stories‹we can read fairy tales if we want to read nice stories." Speaker 6: "The Bible is not an expression of faith. It is the WORD OF GOD. It was written by the hand of man as inspired by God. If you doubt that, how do you go about explaining the multitude of prophesies that have come to pass? Faith did not do that. But God did."
