If you attended the political conventions last summer, you saw it coming. While all manner of entrepreneurs, big and small, sold Republican tote bags, pins, clocks, shirts, gadgets and funny hats in San Diego, something very different, very slick and commercial was going on at the Democratic Convention in Chicago. No matter where you went, you saw the the same official pins, plaques, books and other doo-dads. Turns out that was the warmup for the main event. Welcome to the QVC Inauguration. That's right, for the first time, the largest home shopping network in the world has teamed up with the Presidential Inaugural Committee to peddle Bill Clinton's official collectibles. Move over Plakaway tooth brush, Turbo-speed blender and "Victory" upright vacuum.
