New parents also have to be realistic about which holiday traditions to keep and which to ditch. The Greens, with newest member Nathaniel, 6 months, in tow, will be visiting Grandma again for Christmas but not staying in her condo. "It will be weird to be in a hotel while visiting home, but after last year, we swore never again," Cindy Green says. "Still, we want to celebrate the holidays with my mother. We've done that every year and hope to maintain the tradition."
