Lexicon: Demigratize

demigratize

DEFINITION: From the Spanish desmigratizar: to take immigration out of the talks between the U.S. and Mexico.

USAGE: Mexican President Felipe Calderón's team coined the word before Bush's visit, saying he would try to demigratize their dialogue.

WHAT IT REALLY MEANS: Both Calderón and Bush would rather talk about more upbeat topics--job growth, anyone?--than about the immigration crisis overwhelming both sides of the border. Good luck.
