Spa Therapy
Anne Fontaine From the months she spent living with an indigenous tribe in Amazonia, designer Anne Fontaine developed an appreciation for natural materials. With the opening of her first spa, on the lower level of her rue St.-Honoré boutique in Paris, her affinity for nature has come fully to light. The vision of Fontaine and renowned interior designer Andrée Putman, the spa emerges from a waterfall connecting the space's two levels. Once inside, spa-goers may select indulgent treatments like Amazonian Baptism or Bath of the Goddess, which use Fontaine's Cosmetique Bio skin-care line. A New York City location is due this spring.
Caudalie The ultimate retreat for oenophiles who enjoy a bit of pampering, Caudalie's Vinothérapie spas, scattered around the globe, use grapes to create luscious treatments like Crushed Cabernet Scrub and Pulp Friction Massage. This spring, New York City will get its own Vinothérapie spa in the newly renovated Plaza Hotel. The 8,000-sq.-ft. (about 745 sq m) space features a landmarked brick wall that has been incorporated into the spa's signature warm décor. Adding a new element to the spa experience will be a wine bar that will host tastings and lessons for guests.
