5 Things You Should Know About.

MOVIES

The Incredible Hulk Directed by Louis Leterrier; rated PG-13; out now Less a sequel to the murky Ang Lee Hulk than an atonement for it, this muscular saga has Dr. Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) morphing into a more plausible 10-ft. green guy. The rooftop chases owe much to the Bourne movies, while the creature's romance-mismatch with stalwart Betty (Liv Tyler) suggests a pretty good remake of King Kong. B

The Happening Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan; rated R; out now A toxic breeze blows through the northeastern U.S., and people start killing themselves. A married couple (Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel) goes on the run to stay alive, but nothing can save the lamest sci-fi drama yet from the auteur of The Sixth Sense. Laced with bizarre histrionics and sluggish scare tactics, The Happening is an ill wind indeed. D

MUSIC

Cassandra Wilson Loverly; out now Wilson, a distinctively dusky-voiced singer who can work jazz's boundaries with pop, avant-garde and blues, here assembles an album of standards echoing her breakthrough Blue Skies (1988). A few tracks are a little too standard, but more often a languid beat kicks in, and Wilson's subtle phrasing, filled with cunning pauses, casts its steamy spell. B+

DVDS

Californication The First Season; two discs; out June 17 The aptly named Hank Moody (David Duchovny) is a writer, dad and horndog looking for a second chance from his ex (Natascha McElhone), his daughter (Madeleine Martin) and life in general. With its sculpted bodies and broad farce, Californication can play like a parody of a cable sexcom, but Duchovny is martini-dry as the world-weary Hank. B-

Fool's Gold Directed by Andy Tennant; rated PG-13; out June 17 This leaden trifle about the Caribbean reunion of a treasure hunter (Matthew McConaughey) and his estranged wife (Kate Hudson) feels like a winter vacation with a couple of beautiful, bickering airheads on the next towel. The stars have zero chemistry here, but they'd be ideal co-hosts for a 4 a.m. infomercial on tauter abs and tawnier tans. C-
