ive Net Radio a Chance!

Re "Getting Static On Internet Radio" [PERSONAL TIME: TECHNOLOGY, May 13]: You said a problem with radio on the Web "is that it often doesn't work." Well, if folks in the early TV era had listened to such carping, they would have trashed their funny-looking boxes right from the get-go, because the picture was often fuzzy. But for many independent artists whose music will never be heard on commercial megastations, airplay on the Web via the smaller public and community radio stations means that their music has a chance of being heard around the world. Such exposure is a rare commodity in these days of media conglomeration and radio stations that cover Top 10 artists and no one else.

Heeeeere's Billy!

Former President Bill Clinton may be thinking about being the host of a TV talk show [NOTEBOOK, May 13], but an obvious problem is that he would be the one doing all the talking. Still, he might be a natural for a game-show. It's easy to picture Clinton, with his smarmy smile and poufy hair, energetically bounding onstage, waving to the audience and hugging the contestants. A number of programs, old and new, suggest themselves. But which would best suit Clinton? His life has been one big game show already. Perhaps he could be the host of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy!
