Fann Wong, the 32-year-old leading lady of Shanghai Knights, spoke with TIME about her Hollywood debut, fighting alongside Jackie Chan and kissing Owen Wilson.

TIME: How different was working on this movie compared with past filming experiences in Asia?

Wong: The pace is much [more impromptu] in Asia. You go on set, they tell you what to do, and you just do it. Shanghai Knights was very well rehearsed. I had intense training (for the fighting scenes) for two weeks prior to shooting the movie.

TIME: What was it like working with Jackie Chan?

Wong: He's very demanding of himself, and he expects the best from everybody. At the beginning he nagged about my fighting scenes, but after a while I got the hang of it. It's a great satisfaction to get a nod of approval from Jackie.

TIME: How did you feel about kissing Owen Wilson?

Wong: I didn't know what to expect because I'd never kissed a Westerner before, I was unsure whether the chemistry was right or not. We had to do numerous takes. It's not fun to kiss someone on screen. It's too tiresome.

TIME: What are three words you would use to describe yourself?

Wong: Watch my movie!

TIME: What about for Owen and Jackie?

Wong: For Owen: very gentle, talented, attractive. For Jackie, it's energy, energy, energy.
