Glen's Bender
By the time Glen Campbell got to Phoenix, he was soused. And medicated. The Rhinestone Cowboy was arrested last week for "extreme drunken driving" after a collision in Phoenix, Ariz. Police say Campbell became enraged while in custody and kneed an officer. The evangelical Christian says he forgot that the antianxiety medication he was taking shouldn't be mixed with alcohol. "Even at my age, I learned a valuable lesson," Campbell said in a statement. Which was ... dab on a little styling mousse before your mug shot?
Dave's Pet Project
No, this isn't DAVE MATTHEWS' new horn section. It's a scene from the movie Because of Winn-Dixie, in which the folksy jam-band leader plays a pet-store worker who is also "a guitar-strumming felon," Matthews says. "At least in that department I was somewhat qualified." The Wayne Wang film, due out next August, stars newcomer ANNASOPHIA ROBB and oldcomer Eva Marie Saint. Matthews, who dabbled in local theater before his music career took off, says he was reluctant to play a musician in his screen debut. "If I'm going to stumble blindly around the dark room of acting, I'd like to do it with as little common ground with my other career as possible," he says. For instance, the crowd here is much less of a zoo than he's used to.
How She Caught the Eye of Tiger
Did she enchant him with her caddying skills? Was she the first gal who got his Fuzzy Zoeller jokes? One can only speculate as to what really attracted TIGER WOODS, 27, to Swedish former swimsuit model ELIN NORDEGREN, 23. Woods proposed to Nordegren at a game reserve in South Africa last week, where he played in the Presidents Cup. Sport's most eligible bachelor met his fiance two years ago while she was an au pair for a fellow golfer. Around that time, Woods' father predicted his son wouldn't marry before age 30, saying, "A wife can sometimes be a deterrent to a good game of golf." Upon hearing this, presumably, Woods' rivals all raced to fix him up with the hottest nanny they could find.
