Curtain Raiser
Feeling fit? Then how about running around an Arctic landscape in the middle of the night? On June 19, the 15th Midnight Sun Marathon will kick off in Tromsø, Norway. The world's most northerly marathon, it doesn't begin until well into the evening, at 8:30 p.m. But given that the sun doesn't set in Tromsø between now and mid-July, the race actually takes place in plenty of light. These are unique conditions that attract amateurs and professionals alike from all over the world—last year, the field comprised 2,600 runners from 33 countries.
